IMC PLANTATIONS LTD DISTRIBUTE FOOD ITEMS TO COMMUNITIES
To curb the spread of the corona virus, protect the citizens the government had no option but to lockdown the whole country. The result of this was a complete halt to commercial activities and businesses; this brought an untold hardship on the people who survive on daily activities and wages.
IMC Plantations as a socially responsible commenced a food distribution programme as palliatives on Friday 3rd April 2020. The company decided to put smiles on the faces of the people most especially the aged, women and the indigent by giving out food items such as rice, beans, canned tomatoes, seasoning cubes and palm oil.
In the first round of the food distribution exercise, more than 200 persons were reached in various communities like Nsukwa, Etua, Ogidi, Azamu, etc.
The food items were received with great joy and satisfaction as some of the beneficiaries spoke with our Team. In her response, Madam Mary Okwose from Etua expressed gratitude to IMC Plantations for remembering them in such a difficult time and prayed God to take the company to greater heights.
In Ogidi community, Mrs Juliana Emedo, one of the beneficiaries thanked IMC Plantations for the kind gesture saying the food items will make her family to have a good Easter Celebration. On her part, Madam Maria Obuzor remarked, “This is the first time I am receiving a gift like this, it will go a long way to help my family”.
Responding from Azamu community were Mrs Blessing Mebele and Mrs Theressa Oyem, they thanked IMC Plantation for coming to their aid and prayed God to take the company to greater heights as the food items will go a long way in alleviating hunger from their families.
Just as promised by the management of IMC Plantations Limited to make the food distribution a continuous exercise while the pandemic last, the company on Monday 27th April, 2020 began her second round of food distribution programme. The exercise started in Nsukwa community where over 200 persons were reached with food items.
The gesture was also extended to Ogidi and Azamu communities as the people were overwhelmed with joy and appreciation to IMC Plantations for dimming it fit to visit a second time as more persons benefitted this time around.
